A Narcissistic Industry 🎩

Updated: Aug 28

Time for real talk:

The music industry is set up in a narcissistic way.

(Most formal music education too.)

That’s why we’ve all heard the stories…

The abusive educator.

The conductor who ruled by fear.

The teacher who tore someone down in the name of “excellence.”

Applause and prestige tend to attract that kind of personality.

The kind who feeds off power.

The kind who demands admiration.

But they’re not the only ones the industry attracts.

It also calls in a very different kind of person...

The quiet ones.

The feelers.

The deeply sensitive artists who can’t NOT make music.

Those who care about beauty, not ego.

Connection, not competition.

Honesty, not hierarchy.

The ones who see music as a way to tell stories.

To make sense of the world.

To find something else within themselves.

Because these are the same people the industry chews up and spits out.

Not because they’re not talented.

Not because they can’t handle the work.

But because the entire system is built around something they’re not.

A different nervous system.

A different worldview.

A different set of values.

A different definition of success.

And slowly, they begin to question themselves.

Doubt their path.

Shrink to fit into a system that was never designed for them in the first place.

No wonder over 66% of musicians experience burnout at least once.

We were taught to believe it was us that was broken…

Too emotional.

Too sensitive.

Too weird.

Too much.

Too... something.

But really?

The system just never made space for who you truly are.

You were just told to play a game you were never interested in winning.

So if you’re feeling burnt out — like the joy has drained out of your music…

If you’re tired of contorting yourself just to be taken seriously…

I want to help you find your way back.

To what made you fall in love with it all in the first place.

If that sounds like something you’ve been craving, put the kettle on…
