Audition Coaching for Musicians:

The Audition Strategy Session

57.png

You’re a skilled, hard-working musician — committed to your craft, and no stranger to pressure.

But you have an audition coming up. One that matters.

And despite all your preparation, you can’t stop worrying about mistakes, blanking out, or being judged — by the audience, the panel, or even yourself.

You’ve been doing this for years… but when it’s time to step on stage, the nerves still take over.

Your mind spirals, your hands shake, and your focus slips.

The performance doesn't quite match what you know you're capable of... and each time, it's harder to shake ofd.

Maybe you’re still pushing through, hoping the fear will fade with experience (like everyone says they will). Maybe you're starting to wonder if they ever will.

I know this isn’t why you became a musician.

Let’s prepare for your big moment with clarity, calm, and a clear plan.

I'm Gökçe Kutsal, a performance coach for professional musicians with an MA in Voice Pedagogy and over 2100 hours of teaching and coaching experience.

I work with musicians preparing for auditions, competitions, and high-stakes performances all over the world.

You've probably already tried a few things...

Most musicians I work with have. Things like:

  • Taking more lessons, refining your technique, and over-preparing — even though the issue isn’t your level of musicianship.

  • Trying meditation, breathing exercises, or calming aids, only to find they don’t translate into the audition room.

  • Using positive thinking or affirmations, which can backfire when part of you simply doesn’t believe them.

  • Running mock auditions, recordings, or repeated run-throughs without a clear strategy — leaving confidence unchanged.

But here is the thing:

Performing well under evaluation is a different skill altogether.

And most musicians were never taught it...

not in lessons, not in rehearsals, not even in music school.

Over 9 years of teaching and coaching, I’ve seen this pattern repeat again and again.

That's why I designed the Audition Strategy Session — a focused session built to help you work through nerves, self-criticism, and the fear of being judged, and walk into your audition more prepared and steady.

The Audition Strategy Session framework:

The session focuses on five key components:

  • Understanding how audition anxiety actually shows up for you

  • Clarifying what you want from this audition and how you want to perform

  • Learning simple, practical tools to stay present and focused under pressure

  • Working with negative inner talk in real time

  • Staying connected to what matters most to you — even during evaluation

This approach combines tools refined over years of teaching, coaching, and studying performance skills.

It blends mindfulness, self-compassion, Acceptance & Commitment Training (ACT), and Solution-Focused Coaching, adapted specifically for the audition room.

You'll leave with a clear, personalized strategy to manage nerves, stay focused, and perform in a way that feels like you — even when the stakes are high.

This is the mental training most musicians never received, but deeply need.

I found Gökçe to be extremely professional and empathetic: The fact that she herself is a musician puts her in a different position than a psychologist or a general coach. Her advice was invaluable and allowed me to tackle performance-related challenges in a more effective way.

Gökçe demonstrated a deep understanding of the issues that musicians face and provided practical solutions to overcome them. It was an incredibly positive experience to work with her.

Walk into your audition more focused, steady, and prepared.

If your next performance could feel more focused, more confident, and more like you...

this is where that begins:
