When stepping on stage makes your heart race for all the wrong reasons, it gets harder to sound like the musician you actually are.

Yes, even if you chose this path out of love and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Mental coaching for musicians who want to work through the nerves, perform with more ease, and trust themselves on stage.

Mental coaching for musicians is about what happens between your practice room and the stage:

The gap where nerves, overthinking, and self-doubt get in the way of what you already know how to do.

I work with professional musicians, opera singers, and audition candidates across North America, Europe, the UK, and beyond, using a research-based approach that treats performance under pressure as a system to be understood — looking at how your mind and body work together when the stakes are real.

Singers & Musicians

  • I am a professional singer or musician, and I have an upcoming audition, competition, or high-stakes evaluation.

  • My repertoire is prepared and I know the music well, but the pressure of being assessed brings up nerves, overthinking, or self-doubt.

  • I want a clear, practical plan for how to prepare, how to run my audition, and how to manage my mindset before and on the day, so I can show up focused and grounded when it matters most.

  • I’m looking for time-sensitive, performance-specific coaching to support this one.

  • I am a professional singer or musician, and I want to feel more confident and at ease in performance.

  • My repertoire is ready and I know the music well, but nerves, inner criticism, or inconsistency still affect how freely I perform.

  • I want to understand what’s happening in my mind and body under pressure, and learn how to work with it so I can give the kind of performances I know I’m capable of.

  • I’m interested in performance coaching and want to try it in a focused, one-off session.

  • I am a professional singer or musician, and I want more confidence when performing on stage or in the studio.

  • I find performances draining and I am worried about keeping this up over a long career.

  • I know I'll need to put in the work every day to reach my goals, and I am ready to commit (it is better than the alternative of staying stuck or quitting altogether).

  • I tried some self-help techniques, tools, or therapy before but still get jittery every time something matters.

  • I need an outside eye to offer some perspective on the challenges I'm working with, as well as accountability and steady guidance — someone to help me work through the inner noise, make the right choices for my path, and build a career that actually works for me.

Music Teachers

  • I am a music teacher, and I see my students struggle with performance anxiety more often than I’d like.

  • Some of my most promising students are held back by nerves, self-consciousness, and fear of judgment – sometimes even from me.

  • I understand the basics of performance anxiety and recognise the signs, but I’m not always sure how to address it effectively in lessons.

  • I’d love practical coaching tools to help my students set meaningful artistic goals and break them into clear, manageable steps they can track in their practice.

Teachers

I'm Gökçe Kutsal, a performance coach for professional musicians, with an MA in Voice Pedagogy and over 2100 hours of teaching and coaching experience.

I work with principals, opera singers, and musicians preparing for auditions and competitions all over the world.

My approach draws on Acceptance & Commitment Training (ACT), mindfulness, and evidence-based practice design — trauma-informed and specifically built for the realities of a performing career rather than adapted from a different field.

The aim isn't just getting through the next audition. It's a career you can enjoy showing up to.
